The holidays in Tahoe are packed with fun activities and events for the entire family.

It's time to change the scenery this holiday season. The holidays are a time to gather with family and friends around a table filled with delicious food. What better place to be surrounded with good company than in the fresh air of Tahoe during a season that offers the bright hues of changing leaves and the magical dusting from early-season snowfall? It's the perfect playground for all your winter holiday activities from eating and shopping, to skiing and snowboarding, snowshoeing, sledding, and more. With plenty of things to do, there’s no shortage of opportunities for fun!

Winter Activities

If you’re ready to get outside and into the mountain air this holiday season, try some of the Tahoe classics! The classics include skiing, snowboarding, sledding, snowshoeing, and snowmobiling, making it the ultimate winter wonderland! If this is your first time in the mountains, it's not too late to try something new. Most of the local resorts offer lessons for snowboarding and skiing. If that's not your thing, try zipping down the fresh powder on a sled, or book a snowmobile tour.

Opening Days (weather permitting)

If Mother Nature comes through, Thanksgiving weekend will offer the season's first opportunity to hit the slopes - if you’re in Tahoe that is!

This year Northstar Resort is set to have its opening day on November 17th.

Palisades Tahoe plans to open on November 22nd.

Holiday Shopping

For a fun day of shopping, head towards downtown Truckee, one of our all-time favorite ski towns. It’s known for its relaxed atmosphere, and western-style storefronts full of trendy boutiques and restaurants. They’re even decorated in lights for the holidays! It’s easy to find something special for everyone on your list at the shops and boutiques in Truckee.

Holiday Meals

Food brings people together, so Palisades is hosting a Thanksgiving Dinner! If you’re staying in Tahoe, you can skip the cooking and just enjoy a great meal on the mountainside. Be sure to reserve your spot in advance.

Looking for a private setting for a holiday meal? If you’re looking for some bonding time this holiday season, nothing beats an intimate dinner with your favorite people at a vacation rental cabin. For some traditional bonding, grab some helping hands and fill the cabin with laughter and music as you prepare a delicious holiday meal with family recipes. Our vacation rentals have fully equipped kitchens with just about anything you might need, and nearby stores in Truckee, Tahoe City, and Kings Beach can help with your grocery list.

If you don’t want to cook on vacation, that’s okay too! Try Hiring a chef service to come and prepare a gourmet meal.
